Despite playing the lead role in the 2012 film Zero Dark Thirty, Jessica Chastain spoke out against the promotion of the film. Chastain, who is regarded as one of the greatest performers of her age, has had a successful career thus far, as seen by her Oscar triumph for The Eyes of Tammy Faye this year.
Her most recent movie, The Good Nurse, debuted on Netflix on October 26. On December 4, her miniseries George & Tammy will debut on Showtime. Chastain has a longstanding acting career and has made a name for herself as a respected producer.
In a C Magazine interview, Chastain disputed the notion that Zero Dark Thirty was promoted primarily by and for women, pointing out that she wasn’t included on the movie’s promotional posters.
She responded to the fact that the movie was acknowledged as a “watershed” for its main triumvirate of women, including producer Megan Ellison and director Kathryn Bigelow, by saying:
